About Me

I'm Shawn. I was diagnosed with HIV at age 11, infected through tainted blood products which were used to treat hemophilia, the genetic bleeding disorder I was born with. When I was diagnosed with HIV, I was given less than two years to live.

I survived.

Today, I am a writer (author of My Pet Virus), speaker (with Gwenn Barringer: shawnandgwenn.com) and musician (synthetic-division.com). I'm very happy and healthy and love my iced mochas... but focus on the first paragraph...

Since March 2009, I've posted pictures for Decker's Daily, soliciting iced mocha sponsorships from kind readers of my blog. For $5, you can buy a guy with AIDS- me- an iced mocha. They fuel my blog, my art- my life!

Simply paypal $5 to shawn at mypevirus dot com, and I'll toast you personally right here on Decker's Daily!

Positively Yours,
Shawn

  1. February 5, 2011 - That is my mighty tumbler pictured on the left. Look how it towers over that puny little plastic cup. Now imagine this- your friend is supposed to treat you to a mocha to cover you buying him beer the night before… Imagine handing your tumbler to this friend and having HIS drink come back in your tumbler while you get the puny little cup?
This isn’t as tragic as 1-1-11, but it does offer many conspiracy theories. Was it planned? An accident? Only my friend knows for sure…
